Where It Started
Heyday is a family business rooted in the Iowa landscape.
Paul Hynek grew up working outdoors, learning early the value of hard work, craftsmanship, and doing things the right way. What began as helping with landscaping jobs eventually became a lifelong trade—one built on hands-on experience, problem solving, and a deep understanding of how outdoor spaces must function through Midwest seasons.
The business itself traces back to Paul’s father, who began working in landscaping during the farm crisis of the 1980s. With little more than a shovel, a stock trailer, and determination, he built a livelihood through grit and persistence. That same work ethic still shapes everything we do today.
A New Chapter
Over time, Hynek Landscaping evolved into Heyday which grew into something more than a landscaping company.
When Nikki joined the business, she brought a creative and design-driven perspective shaped by a lifelong love of homes, art, and beautiful spaces. Together, Paul and Nikki began to approach projects differently—not just as installations, but as environments.
Today, every project is designed to feel cohesive, welcoming, and timeless, blending craftsmanship with thoughtful design to create spaces people truly live in.
The Landscaping Legacy Continues
After 17 years of marriage and working side by side, Paul and Nikki were blessed with a little boy named Huck.
These days, he can often be found riding along in equipment, helping where he can with his measuring tape, and learning the trade the same way Paul once did alongside his own father.
If it’s true that some things run in the family, he may just be destined to be a landscaper.
